HERIBERTO CRUZ 

Piano

 

The talented pianist moreliano Heriberto Cruz Cornejo, and resident in the city of Tacámbaro, has traveled to Britain to continue his musical training, particularly in the northern English city of Leeds, where he remained for a year.

 

Heriberto Cruz Cornejo began formal musical studies at the People's School of Fine Arts in the city of Morelia, Michoacan. He studied piano under the direction of Maestro Eduardo Montes and Arroyo during the four years of preparatory courses in music. Later he entered the Conservatory of the Roses, where for two years he continued to study under the guidance of Maestro Montes, then started taking piano classes by Maestro Cuauhtémoc Trejo. He studied chamber music and accompaniment with Prof. Caroline Grivellaro. He graduated with honors in Bachelor of Music with a major in piano in March 2011.

He has taken master classes with pianists such as Yuri Lisitchenko, Robert Blocker, Mariano Santa Maria, Alexander Braginsky, Magdalena Baczeswka, Alessio Bax, Fritz Steinegger, Yleana Bautista, Josef Olechoswky, Gonzalo Palma among others.

 

He attended the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York in 2008. He has performed in various forums in the states of Michoacan, Guanajuato and Queretaro. In 2007 he participated as a pianist soundtrack to the play In Memoriam (Hector Mendoza) at the State Theater Show.

 

In 2009 he obtained, with pianist Xochiquétzal Lopez, second place in the First Contest of Chamber Music Conservatory of the Roses, and in 2010 he won the National Piano Competition (Fifth contest Interpretation) Conservatory of Rosas. He won third place in the "National Young Pianists Competition Parnassos 2012" held in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

 

In October 2010 he was a soloist with the Yakima Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Lawrence Golan in the state of Washington (USA) and in May 2011 with the Michoacan Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro. Juan Manuel ArPeRo. He has performed a solo piano recital at the International Music Festival Miguel Bernal Jimenez in the city of Morelia, Mich. and the International Festival of Contemporary Music. He worked as accompanist in the class of Grayson Hirst during 2011 Ars Vocalis Mexico.

 

He has been admitted to the British conservatories Royal Northen College of Music and at Leeds College of Music to continue graduate studies in the second half of 2012. Congratulations to his parents for the support they provided to young pianist so he could further strengthen his piano skills.
